The Society of Asian Lawyers supports the open letter to the Prime Minister prepared by The Bar Council of England & Wales.

On 23 February 2026, the Society of Asian Lawyers endorsed the open letter.

Open letter to the Prime Minister

Every member – whether you are a criminal law practitioner or not – is encouraged to get involved.

The proposals for curbing of jury trials strikes not just at the heart of our criminal justice system but society itself, is an erosion of constitutional rights and only increases the risk of discrimination in our justice system.

The Society of Asian Lawyers will continue its work with various organisations and stakeholders.
