8 March – International Women’s Day
Today, 8 March, we annually mark International Women’s Day (“IWD”) celebrating the advancement of women worldwide.
IWD celebrates the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women.
IWD events and conversations provide an important platform to engage in discussions about gender equality and to reflect upon the progress and commit to positive action.
The first IWD event was held in 1911 and more than a century later and with every year and with every discussion and action, we continue to move forward to achieve the objectives of:
🎉 Celebrating women’s achievements;
⬆️ Raising awareness of gender inequality;
🛞 Mobilizing action; and
🤝 Fostering solidarity.
This year’s IWD theme encourages a mindset of generosity and collaboration.
The Give to Gain theme emphasises on the power of:
reciprocity 🔄 and
support 🤝.
When people, organisations and communities give generously, opportunities and support for women increase.
With women making up the legal profession:
♀️ 44% Judges
♀️ 53% Solicitors
♀️ 40% Barristers
♀️ 78% Chartered Legal Executives
♀️ 100% of SAL Committee ♀️
🗣️ Every conversation matters.
💪When women thrive, we all rise.
