Asian Legal Awards – 15.10.22 A Review
We were delighted to host our 27th annual Asian Legal Awards on 15 October 2022 at the Royal Lancaster Hotel, London. With an attendance of over 400 guests, we celebrated the achievements of our friends and colleagues, and recognised the legal excellence in the Asian community.
Our focus was to not only celebrate the accolades of our colleagues, but to unite and share a feeling of togetherness, a feeling which has been missed. This sense of unity was emphasised in the evening’s keynote speech from Lubna Shuja, President of the Law Society. Lubna praised the work we are doing as a community in the legal world, and highlighted the importance of continuing to build our presence. Coming from a very humble background, Lubna has seen the legal world adapt and diversify, and she has every intention in her position as President of the Law Society to make sure this movement continues. We were truly honoured to have Lubna share her humble yet inspiring vision.
We are grateful once again to our Judging Panel for giving their time so generously again and without whom the Awards would not be possible. Thank you to The Honourable Mrs. Justice Cheema-Grubb, DJ Sunita Mason CBE, HHJ Anuja Dhir KC and HHJ Khatun Sapnara.

In celebrating our success, our suited and booted guests were treated to a champagne reception, an open bar serving signature cocktails and mocktails and a 4 course meal provided by Madhus. Following this, and in true SAL fashion, we danced the night through with 5 star entertainment from DJ Kabir Kudos Music and Ministry of Dhol, who not only got everyone on their feet, but lifted the roof! The evening would not have been possible without our sponsors, to whom we are forever grateful for their continued support. An honourable mention to the Solicitors Authority Regulation, Crown Prosecution Service and Forensic Defence.
Lastly, we are truly grateful to all our guests. The spirit of unity will continue through your support and personifies the vision led by Lubna. As a community, our shared vision of greater diversity can be recognised when we celebrate the success of our colleagues, which creates that further step towards greater diversity and acknowledgement in the legal world.
