SAL Awards & Ball 2014
The SAL Awards & Ball 2014 held at the Nine King’s Suite, Royal Lancaster Hotel in London was a phenomenal success. The event was a sell out with 600 guests in attendance, making it the biggest event to date!
The Awards & Ball was sponsored by Neumans Solicitors, LR Recruitment and BABRI. The Awards Panel Judges had a very difficult task this year with such outstanding nominations to select from.
The SAL Award Winners 2014 were:
Lisa Hatch – Civil Lawyer 2014
Sarb Sehmi – Rising Star 2014
Umar Zeb – Legal Aid Lawyer 2014
Viney Jung – Lifetime Achievement Award 2014
After the Champagne reception in which guests were serenaded by Saxophonist Pavna Verma, they were treated to a sumptuous four course banquet prepared by Madhu’s. The entertainment line up for the evening has been reviewed as “outstanding” by guests who danced the night away.
SAL would like to thank all guests who supported the nominated charities, RAFT and Creative Power Project. A total sum of £1,600 was raised on the night and gratefully received by the respective charities.
The money raised for Creative Power Project has already been earmarked for the following:
- providing a room near Shimla Hospital specifically for patients from Spiti to stay in when they visit for their medical appointments. The cost of the room is approximately 6,000 rupees or £60 per month.
- equipping the room with basic bedding (mattresses, blankets etc)
- some of the funds will be used to make the organisation more sustainable, setting up a website and making promotional materials for community tourism (e.g. short videos for the website, posters, leaflets). They also hope to generate a small income from some community tourism activities like arranging trekking guides, homestays in villages etc. which will be fed back into funding the room near Shimla Hospital and the equipment for the cinema etc. longer term.
SAL would also like to thank Pardesi Photography for the wonderful job they did of capturing what was a truly special night. To see the full gallery of the photographs taken on the night please visit: www.pardesishop.com and use the password ‘law289’.
